DOT physical examinations
I’m a driver. What should I expect from the new regulations? Your health history will be carefully reviewed during your DOT physical exam.
The physical exam will include:
You must meet all of the health requirements in order to pass your DOT physical exam.
Keep the following in mind before your DOT physical visit:
*If a patient requires a sleep study as determined by the provider, there will be an additional $25 charge due to the paperwork/prior authorization involved. If you have already had a sleep study done and use a CPAP machine, we will need your last 90 days usage. It can be faxed to: (315) 713-4667
*Same day may incur additional fee
Walk-ins are occasionally available but not regularly available.
The physical exam will include:
- Past or recent illnesses and injuries
- Vision acuity
- Hearing disorders
- Heart disorders
- High blood pressure
- Muscular weakness or disease
- Diabetes
- Digestion
- Respiratory problems
- Lung, kidney, liver, and nervous system health
You must meet all of the health requirements in order to pass your DOT physical exam.
Keep the following in mind before your DOT physical visit:
- Insurance does not cover this exam - some employers may cover/reimburse for it.
- Here is a list of items to bring that may be helpful:
- Glasses if vision requires a prescription
- Last MER Card
- List of medications with dosages
- Yearly clearance letter from Cardiologist- Other chronic conditions may require additional paperwork before Medical Clearance is issued, as well
- Current CPAP usage (Last 90 days) If you use a CPAP Machine - For convenience, you can have your CPAP information faxed to us prior to your exam (315) 713-4667
